What Did Kelly Mcginnis Studying at Juilliard Lead to?

Kelly Mcginnis made her Broadway debut in the play “Heartbeats” in 1981 and has been a mainstay on the Great White Way ever since. Known for her powerhouse performance as Elle Woods in “Legally Blonde” and Nora Ephron’s hilarious classic, “Annie,” Mcginnis tells CBR about her background, what studying at Juilliard led to and more.

Mcginnis was born in Denver, Colorado on December 21, 1948. While she didn’t always know she wanted to be an actress, Mcginnis credits her mother with encouraging creativity and expression from an early age.

“I grew up listening to my mom sing and I loved it when she would get up on stage and do revues for family and friends,” Mcginnis recalls. “She always encouraged me to try things out – whether it was singing or acting.”
