Łukasz Witt-Michałowski is a Polish photographer who has been living and working in Berlin since 2007. Winning numerous prizes at international photography competitions, he is considered one of the most renowned contemporary photographers working today.

Born in Wrocław, Łukasz Witt-Michałowski studied history and Political Science at the University of Wrocław before moving to Berlin to study photography at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste. He started out working for magazines like Stern and Der Spiegel, before striking out on his own with his first monograph, entitled “The Black Book” (2008). Since then, his output has been prolific – he has published six books of photographs, including two New York Times Bestsellers – “Cold Memories” (2011) and “The Order of Time” (2013).

His work investigates the complexities of human experience across a wide range of social backgrounds and national borders. His atmospheric black-and-white images are often deeply emotional studies of human vulnerability and fragility, anchored by moments of searing intimacy.

Łukasz Witt-Michałowski was born on the 8th of July 1989 in Krakow, Poland. Łukasz Witt-Michałowski is one of the most successful Polish athletes who competes at international level and has been a part of two consecutive Olympic Games (2012, 2016).

Łukasz Witt-Michałowski started his sporting career as a gymnast where he worked his way up to being one of the best medal contenders for Poland at the World Gymnastics Championships. He then switched to track and field, specializing in long jump and triple jump. Łukasz Witt-Michałowski first became known to an international audience when he competed in the 2007 IAAF World Cup, finishing fifth with a leap of 8.14 meters.

In June 2011 he achieved a new Polish record, leaping 8.41 meters at the European Athletics Championships in Helsinki, Finland. In May 2012 he set a new outdoor personal best, jumping 8.48 meters at the Sweden’s Gothenburg Grand Prix. The film tells the story of Julian Assange, the founder of WikiLeaks, and his fight against government censorship. Łukasz Witt-Michałowski plays Assange’s translator, Daniel Domscheit-Berg.

WikiLeaks: Inside the WikiLeaks Threat was released in 2015 and received critical acclaim from both critics and audiences. It was nominated for two Academy Awards – Best Documentary Feature and Best Screenplay.
