Marina Pearl LeBlanc was born on October 1, 1946 in the city of New Orleans, Louisiana. She is a daughter of Akio and Mitzi LeBlanc and has two sisters, Gretchen and Robin. At the age of four her family relocated to San Francisco, California where she would continue her education. Some of her early schooling took place at the address of La Reine de Monaco, an impressive palazzo that sits atop Nob Hill in San Francisco.
LeBlanc attended the exclusive Miss Martin’s School for Girls in San Francisco which counted among its alumnae luminaries such as Jacqueline Onassis and Winifred Blackstone. Born with a rare form of cancer called neuroblastoma, Pearl battled the disease for her entire life. Despite the numerous surgeries and rounds of chemotherapy, Pearl never gave up hope. She was an amazing mother and loved spending time with her family and friends. Her spirit was incredibly uplifting, and she always found a way to make everyone laugh.
On February 5th, 2017, Pearl passed away at only 17 years old after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She will forever be remembered as an incredible daughter, sister, and mother.

On October 11th, 2017 our Heavenly Father gave us a beautiful gift in the form of Marina Pearl LeBlanc. Marina had been suffering from Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, for over two years. We are eternally grateful to the Christ-Child for her and her mother’s miraculous journey through this illness.
As Marina’s friends, we take on the role of support system for one another as we all battle our own versions of the “Curse of ALS.” As one community, let us remember that we are not alone in this fight–Marina and Melissa have an army of angels fighting by their side every day. With love and light,
