Simon Konecki is a Polish-born composer, conductor and pianist. He has worked with many leading Opera houses and Orchestras around the world, notably the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Warsaw National Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2003 he was appointed Artistic Director of the Malmö Symphony Orchestra.

Simon Konecki was born in 1967 in Wrocław, Poland. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw and at the Royal College of Art in London. In 1993, he won the prestigious Prix de Rome and moved to Rome, where he has lived since.
Konecki’s paintings are often inspired by his surroundings and feature vivid depictions of everyday life in Europe and North America. He has exhibited his work internationally, most notably at the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, and the National Gallery of Canada in Ottawa.
In 2006, Konecki was awarded an honorary doctorate from Université Laval.
