The trip takes only two hours to Seattle in good weather. However, you can travel for four hours if a snowstorm hits on the way in. You can start from Seattle and go East on 2 (Stevens Pass Highway). If you are a beginner, renting an AWD car is recommended to learn how to drive in the snow. This will help you feel more confident and safer on the roads.

Enjoy a coffee break in Washington

Make sure to stop for a cup of coffee! As it cannot drive in the storm, Espresso Chalet was the ideal place for a coffee break.

Although it was a small, unassuming coffee shop in the middle of nowhere that could rival any trendy spot, it could be a real contender. They had an amazing selection of milk options, from coconut to hemp to oat and goat’s milk.

You’ll find more than 100 syrups and flavour options to choose from!

Their holiday coffee flavours were delicious, and most travellers highly recommend them. On the way up, we tried the sugar-free brown sugar cinnamon and eggnog latte and then reordered our order for the descent.

We stayed at a beautiful cabin on Lake Wenatchee. It was nestled in the forest outside Leavenworth and was a wonderful place to escape from everything. Our large, quiet home was a great find. We also found several beautiful rentals in the vicinity.

Lazy Bear Lodge is where you can wake up to a sparkling lake and a snowy mountain. You will be spending your time cooking home-cooked meals and playing board games.

It was beautiful, but it was far from anywhere. Although you are not far from the grid, there are often blackouts. Eight hours of travelling brought us to a spot without lights. Even worse, there was no heater and water.

Although the power was restored and everything was fine, it is recommended that you be prepared. Get there before it dark so you can do your grocery shopping while driving.

This was the perfect spot for families (up to 8 people can be accommodated), but you might also consider the Posthotel if your travels are with a partner. In addition, it is located in Leavenworth, making it a little more convenient.

 Day Two

After breakfast at the cabin we drove to Leavenworth. We arrived at Rhein House around noon and wandered until lunch.

This Bavarian-inspired restaurant has serious Oktoberfest vibes.

Bailey was with us, so it was a pleasure to find that the place is dog-friendly and has an outdoor patio. They are known for their huge pretzels and offer various gluten-free and vegan options.

It is a very popular but distant restaurant. You’ll beat the crowds if you go during the week. It’s best to go on a weekend to avoid waiting in line for at least 15-30 minutes. But it’s well worth it! ).

Leavenworth has a population of approximately 2,000 and covers less than two square miles. You can easily cover the area in one afternoon.

After eating giant pretzels, grab your cameras and take photos of the beautiful European architecture.

Where to Eat

After dinner, we stayed in the town and went to Old World Pub for drinks. We then visited Icicle Brewing Company to sample local beers and ate grilled cheese, soup, pretzels, and other snacks.

If time is not a problem, the Andreas Keller restaurant is another option for homemade pretzels, German beer, and schnitzel.

Day Three

The last day was about enjoying the warm winter vibes and lingering there. It was magical. You can spend the entire day in the cabin. You can enjoy games and shared meals and sit down to take in the breathtaking view of this area.

 All in all

Leavenworth is an excellent choice if you’re looking for a quick getaway or a relaxing mini-break with your family. It’s a peaceful, low-key spot that is always quiet. However, it’s best to visit during the week to avoid crowds.

If you have the luxury of three nights, go for it! It was even more relaxing.
